I thought we blew the whole kitchen. Everything stopped working—the fridge, the microwave, the toaster. We tried resetting the breaker, thought about calling an electrician. Then we searched “troubleshoot power out in kitchen”:

What the heck is a GFCI outlet? Oh, those are the outlets with the buttons. Sure enough, two of our outlets had buttons—and little yellow lights showing they’d tripped.
We pressed the buttons to reset the outlets and, voila, power restored.
